Maurice joined GIBB immediately after obtaining a First Class degree in civil engineering from the University of Nairobi in 1979.
Maurice excelled at GIBB, first as a graduate engineer and quickly became a competent water systems design engineer. He was involved in the design of many water supply projects across Africa.
Maurice was then promoted to principal engineer position and then to Resident Engineer responsible fir the direction of many large water and sanitation projects in Malawi, Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda.
In 2007, Maurice was appointed a director of GIBB Africa, responsible for water, sanitation and irrigation projects undertaken by GIBB in numerous countries in Africa.
At the time of his appointment, the department he took over was struggling but he was able to rebuild it. He identified and mentored young talents into competent engineers. He was also very successful in winning work by providing exemplary service to our clients.
Maurice was a dedicated manager. He got intimately involved in all his projects. His dedication to his projects probably contributed to his demise - he went to Eswatini to work on one of his projects on 9 March 2020 and returned after a ten days stints. He returned unwell and unfortunately succumbed to his illness on 26th March 2020.
GIBB and indeed the engineering fraternity in Kenya, have lost a giant and he will be sorely missed by all of us.
